James Marron Master Class
James Marron is Classical Guitar Teacher at The University of Akron. He has been the Guitar Department Head and sole classical guitar teacher since my retirement there in 2015. Prior to that, he was a member of the guitar faculty along with me, at U Akron since 1991, when he finished his MM there. He has recorded, toured, composed and published, and taught for many years from his perch in Akron, Ohio, and he has been a close friend to me for over 30 years. So, it was my great pleasure to bring him over to Oberlin for a meeting with some of my students. Four students played for him, and we were treated to discussions about technique and practicing, warming up, tone production, interpretation, balance and many other related subjects of interest to us all. Here are some shots from the class:
Caeli Massey played the final movement from Domeniconi’s Koyunbaba:
Craig Slagh played the fourth and fifth movements of Walton’s Five Bagatelles:
Suvan Agarwal played the first Study of Regondi:
Aidan Wiley Lippke played the final movement from Ponce’s Sonata Romantica:
