Caeli Massey's Freshman Recital
Caeli joined the Studio in September, and has made fantastic progress on the instrument in the ensuing months. It's fair to say that she's the "most-improved" member of the Studio this year. In all areas--sound production, projection, rhythm, phrasing, and general confidence and delivery, her playing is nearly unrecognizable compared to the beginning of last Fall.
She played a short program of repertoire pieces, including works by Bach, Smith-Brindle and M. D. Pujol, compellingly and with purpose. She filled Fairchild Chapel with beautiful sound and the audience rewarded her loudly for her success. Here is a short photographic essay from the evening; the program follows.
(Here is my piece on having students play recitals instead of juries).
