Grigor Ylli's Freshman Recital

Grigor played his program in our large performance space, Warner Concert Hall, thanks to a room availability crunch, and, unlike the guitarist who used the room before him, Suvan Agarwal, Grigor chose not to amplify. This worked out well, as he played with a big, clear sound, and the modest audience sat close.

Grigor played a large, ambitious program featuring three warhorses of the repertoire-Bach’s Lute Suite BWV 997, Giuliani’s Rossiniane Op. 119 and the Domeniconi Turkish Variations. This ended up being the longest of the underclassman programs this season, and it was impressively played. (Full program is at the end of the post).

Grigor used his iPad for the scores, choosing not to memorize the material for this presentation. There were some technical issues, but they were quickly resolved.

Grigor’s parents came for the occasion, all the way from Greece:

Bravo, Grigor on a remarkable first program, played with impressive confidence!
