Craig Slagh's Senior Recital
Craig Slagh gave a brilliant performance, going out with the proverbial bang, in his final Oberlin recital. A real performer, Craig had already presented three full solo programs here. His Senior Recital demonstrated the progress such an intensive, performance-oriented approach can bring about. His program was difficult, featuring some of the great works in our repertoire. His playing was stylistically sophisticated and technically adroit. Most important, though, he brought to every piece on the program his own very personal interpretations; he played like an artist. At the end of the recital, he brought out his friends to join him in a joyous jazzy jam session, leaving listeners smiling and snapping fingers.
I enjoyed having Craig in the studio immensely and wish him every success as he steps into his next adventure. Bravo!!
Below are some photos of the evening, presented, as became the norm in ‘20-’21, in an empty room with live-streaming. The program is at the end of the post, followed by links to posts about Craig’s previous Oberlin recitals.
