Aidan Wiley Lippke's Junior Recital

Aidan took Kulas Recital Hall stage by storm yesterday with a highly polished junior recital. His program, of works of impressive difficulty, depth and variety, was more like a DMA program than a typical junior recital one. With works by Rodrigo, Bach, Tansman, Carter and Piazzolla, he played at times with richly sublime color and gorgeous phrasing; at others, he sounded startlingly virtuosic. (The full program is at the end of the post). Aidan has played two full programs at Oberlin already, a Freshman Recital and a Sophomore Recital, so he is pretty seasoned. Further, he is just back from a spring semester in Spain, where he studied at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and took guitar with José Antonio Garcia Fuertes at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid. His relatively new guitar, by Patrick Mailloux, sounded beautiful.

Congratulations, Aidan for a remarkable accomplishment!
