Fall 2018 Studio Recital

The seven members of the Studio that didn’t play recitals this semester played in the semester-end Studio Recital last night, in Fairchild Chapel. The sound in there is so gorgeous, everyone was given a lift from the natural reverb and the exquisite silence of the space. Each student played about 15-20 minutes of music, representing the semester’s work. In many cases, this meant a movement of one thing, a movement from another, with few entire works presented. In all, it was two hours of music. The playing level was terrific and the entire group played their best for the show. A decent group of enthusiasts and friends came to listen, so an enthusiastic applause helped encourage the performers.

Unfortunately, my camera fails to capture clear images in the low light of this hall, so the photos are lousy. But here is the record of the event, nonetheless. The program follows.

Morgan Vallat played works of Bach and Giuliani:

Eliza Balmuth played works of Legnani and Moreno-Torroba:

Collin Sterne played works of Giuliani and Moreno-Torroba:

Caeli Massey played works of Lauro and Domeniconi:

Craig Slagh played works of Bach, Turina and Morel:

Julia Humphrey Bodian played works of Regondi and Ginastera:

Aidan Wiley Lippke played works of Bach, Tansman and Piazzolla:

Remaining Studio members Arcangel Velasquez and Mohit Dubey played full recitals earlier in the semester, so were exempt from participation in this evening’s event.

Afterwards, we shared a meal and some laughs at the Feve: back row: Arcangel Velasquez, myself, Collin Sterne and Caeli Massey; middle row: Eliza Balmuth, Morgan Vallat, Aidan Wiley Lippke, Julia Humphrey Bodian, Corey (Craig’s friend), Craig Slagh, and in front, Mohit Dubey.
