Barrios Studies Day at Oberlin
Those who've followed this blog for a while know that I have my Oberlin students learn studies of a particular composer each semester. They each learn one or two and, in an end-of-the-semester performance, we get to the hear a program dedicated to them. In this way, they become well-acquainted with a wide range of advanced concert studies, both for their own repertoires and to bolster their awareness of these materials for future pedagogical use. So far we've spent a semester each on Villa-Lobos, Brouwer, Gilardino and Kleynjans; this semester they played the studies of Agustin Barrios.
Here they are, on stage in Kulas Hall with their Barrios Studies:
Stephen Fazio played
