Philip Logan's Recital and Tour

University of Akron MM candidate Philip Logan gave the first of his two required recitals this week. Before the concert, he played the entire program five times publicly, all during the six days before we heard it at the University. This type of "touring" is strongly recommended for every student prior the their degree recitals. (I wrote a piece on the idea last year--

). Phil played shows in Kent, Cuyahoga Falls, Youngstown, Ellett and Canton plus the final Akron performance.

In Phil's case, the result was amazing. His level of confidence soared, his accuracy and precision, his musicianship, and of course, his on-stage professionalism all improved measurably in a single week. It was a terrific recital.

His program included a concert study by Francis Kleynjans, Bach's entire second Violin Sonata in C, Barrios' Tango and Valse Op 8 No 3, Moreno-Torroba's Sonatina in A, Toru Takemitsu's Equinox and the Reverie of Dmitri Fampas.
